Virtue Water

Virtue Water is a beverage produced by the A.C.R.E. Corporation. There are ten varieties of Virtue Water, each corresponding to one of the ten virtues and made from the water of the Demnoph cistern bearing that virtue's name. Virtue Water is advertised as improving one's spiritual and physical health and is somewhat more expensive than standard A.C.R.E. Brand Water. It is sold individually and in Virtue Ten-Packs containing one of each variety of Virtue Water.

While mundane physical tests reveal no difference between Virtue Water and standard Demnoph tap water, A.C.R.E.'s claim that Virtue Water is "spiritually fortified" has led to the folk belief that drinking a particular variety of Virtue Water can make a person more able to exhibit that virtue. Consequently, the demography of which populations tend to buy which varieties of Virtue Water have been of interest to sociologists (Demnoph's most popular variety, for example, is Hope Virtue Water). Virtue Water is not blessed or otherwise officially endorsed by any religious organization.

Virtue Water contains no flavorants or nutrient additives, but many people nonetheless have a go-to variety, and Virtue Water connoisseurs insist that each virtue has its own unique, subtle flavor. For many people, one's choice of Virtue Water variety is a way of declaring the virtue that is most important to them, or of showing that they recognize a dearth of some virtue in themselves and wish to improve.
