Truthfully a large scale transport initiative not exclusive to hypertrain travel, the Tanager Network includes surface and subterranean hypertrains, several high-atmosphere sky-carriage rings, and numerous space elevators. The hypertrain cars of the Tanager Network are specifically designed to operate as either hyperloop carriages or shuttles that can launch from space elevator platforms to any of Hiera’s three moons. This system allows for a reduced number of separate vehicles and vastly improved scheduling efficiency. A train can depart Darvasa for Ven City, and from there detach carriages to be carried up the elevators and launched to landing sites on Throphe, Khal, or Vailami.
The Tanager Network was devised by the late Herzog Tanager Johanna, who’s life was taken during the War Against the Artificials in a vicious Cygnus bombing run. Her wife, Dowager-Uradel Tanager Dagmar, swore to carry on her legacy, keeping the company afloat through two wars before finally completing the work shortly after the Pyxis Emperox’s coronation.
Vendon Underground[]
One of the largest improvements made as part of the Tanager Network was the expansion and improvements made to the Vendon Underground system. Ven City and its surrounds, colloquially called “Vendon,” had long suffered from congestion, poor route planning, and redirects caused by damage to a number of lines during the War Against the Artificials. The Tanager Network called for the construction of several new main lines passing through Ven City, as well as six new Underground routes and numerous track and carriage improvements.
The Luxury of Travel[]
The Tanager Network spared no expense in its carriage designs for the needs of Hieran nobility. Each carriage dampens the effects of travel, whether on the ground, in the sky rings, or soaring to Throphe, to such a degree that it almost feels as though passengers are at rest for their entire journey. Special alarms have been installed in every carriage as a safety precaution because testing revealed that in some circumstances passengers may not even realize their train had been in an accident due to the smoothness of the Tanager Network's dampeners. Each car also includes wood paneling, tiled bathroom facilities, faux fireplaces, handcrafted wooden tables, custom-upholstered seats, snack dispensers, and connectivity to the fastest constant-c money can buy.
Special carriages also include fine dining options, custom cocktails, beds in king, extra king, or über king, showers, bathtubs, viewing lounges, and more, cleaned daily by hard working serfs. Certain trains are labeled “Scenic,” running at slower speeds to allow passengers to view the natural wonders of Hiera while enjoying fine, five-course meals and live chamber music performances.
