The Church of Humanity, Repentant Statement of Shared Values is a publication from Cabina in the summer of 3200. It was signed by leading members of all three Church of Humanity subfactions (Idealist, Balance, and Liberator), and central figures from the CHR's major sects. The document was drafted in an effort to find unified common ground and goals, to reaffirm the Three Tenets of the Repentant faith, and to present a cohesive statement of Repentant values to siblings both inside and outside the Church.

Statement of Shared Values

A Reaffirmation of The Faith Repentant, in this Time of Present Crisis

Cabina, Summer 3200

1. The Soul begets Consciousness, Consciousness begets the Soul.

  • Consciousness is found in the human, the synthetic, the alien, and may yet be found in other forms of emergent or discovered life.
  • To consider or declare any conscious being “soulless” is an error of the gravest nature.

2.  All conscious life is valuable and should be treated with respect.

  • A fundamental level of rights and respect is due to every conscious being, rooted in recognition of that miracle that is their consciousness.
  • No government, corporation, or institution in this sector approaches this minimum of respect and guarantee of rights; thus change is sorely required.

3.  We must atone for the mistakes of our past through Repentance, through Word and Deed.

  • We are the Church of Humanity, Repentant.  We do not call you to lives of ease.  We do not preach quieting words of comfort and complacency.  We call you instead to what may indeed be a life filled with hard choices and costly deeds.
  • We call upon the Repentant of Acheron Rho to bring both themselves and their societies into closer alignment with the First and Second Tenets of the Faith.

We the undersigned hereby reaffirm these fundamentals of our faith, and exhort their application to this present crisis and after, by all who call themselves Repentant.
