Kampa'Gni

Kampa’Gni is a sparkling wine produced in vineyards across the temperate regions of Aomori, leveraging the exotic grapes growing on the planet’s altered blue flora. Kampa’Gni has become a cultural icon throughout the Empire due to the distinctive opening ritual, involving running a blade down the length of the bottle to ram the lip, the bottle opening with an explosive pop. House Reticulum vintners often compete to have the strongest and most distinctive displays of opening, the level of spectacle directly correlated to prestige of different vineyards.

Although there are numerous types of Kampa’Gni that have proliferated throughout the Empire, there are a few principle varieties.

Aomori Pale

A yellow-green variety of Kampa’Gni prepared all over Aomori. Production of the Pale dates back at least to the Scream, if not longer, and is the signature product of Reticulum vineyards, the first when many think of Kampa’Gni. The sign of true Aomori Pale is aging in barrels of the rich deep blue wood of the planet, eschewing the lighter breeds, this process the one that imparts the hues of greens to the wine.

Royal Terrata

A deep purply maroon, the color of Reticulum. Royal Terrata is known for its distinctive flavor, a sharper take than the more common Aomori Pale. Despite the color, Royal Terrata is not a red wine, prepared much like a white, produced from the unique grapes in the valleys around the defunct terraformer that forms the foundation of Terrata Prime. Royal Terrata is only aged deep in the defunct parts of the silicon pits under its namesake, due to widely held belief that this is a critical part of the distinct taste.
