Borussia Mensur

Named by Primeborn Nobility after sparse historical records of alleged dueling cults from before the Scream, the Borussia Mensur is a Crucian-funded initiative to provide residency to Reticulum Duelists on Hiera, and funding for travel abroad to other Crucian holdings and interests. Hieran Nobility use Duels as one of the primary methods of transferring inheritance, thus making them common employers of Reticulum Duelists, and also view weapon training and academic dueling (fencing, etc.) as an important character building exercise for the young adults of Nobility.

Rakshasa and Brahmarakshasa were hand selected from a list of candidates provided by House Reticulum for the Borussia Mensur. Failing to appreciate the individuality of Reticulum Nobility, an estate of several large mansions was furnished and provided to the group, who have since received a number of visits and warnings from local law enforcement for “loud sounds of arguing,” and “open combat on the veranda.” No fines or arrests have been issued, as House Crux has been careful in attempting to better understand Reticulum culture through the residency of the duelists and teachers.

The Condottieri Period

During the early reign of the Masked Emperox, House Crux was quick to embrace the long-beloved art of dueling as a method of conflict resolution over open war. Reticulum duelists and teachers were contracted by the hundreds to respectively lead and educate small dueling teams of Crucian Nobility, who staged battles with each other to show off the skill of not just themselves, but their hired Reticulum duelists and teachers as well. This became not just a method of conflict resolution, but also a social sport and a value for measuring the merit of individual Crucian Nobles. Unfortunately, this period was short lived, lasting only a little over fifty years. Crucian Nobility in the present have lost much of this closeness and appreciation for House Reticulum and its unique culture, hence the attempts to make the Reticulum Nobles of the Borussia Mensur work closely together. Younger generations often treat duels and the hiring of House Reticulum more like business transactions than an exchange of knowledge and understanding. Some amongst the older Crucian Nobility hope the Borussia Mensur will ultimately renew understanding and appreciation for House Reticulum in House Crux and strengthen the relationship between the two Houses.
